Alloy Wheel Customisation
What is alloy wheel customisation?
Alloy wheel customisation is more than just a colour change, customisation involves changing the colour and design of your wheels to create a completly unique look. This can include powder coating or wet painting finishes, custom diamond cutting, and multi-colour finishes, the possibilities are endless!
How much does alloy wheel customisation cost?
Wheel customisation costs will depend on the type and size of the alloys being customised and the type of finish being applied. Wheeltribe can instantly price colour changes for 99% of wheels across hundreds of different stock finishes.
Drivers looking to fully customise alloy wheels can contact us to discuss which custom colours and finishes are available. Wheeltibe helps drivers crate a custom design brief allowing suppliers to deliver (and price) fully bespoke wheel designs and finish combiniations.
How long does alloy wheel customisation take?
A straightforward customisation, such as a colour change, typically takes 24–48 hours, depending on the chosen finish and the condition of the wheels. Powder coating usually takes slightly longer than wheels that are repainted and lacquered, due to the additional preparation and curing process involved.
Is powder coating or paint better for customising wheels?
While powder coating is more durable and better suited to UK weather and road conditions it offers less flexibility for intricate designs and patters. Wet paint is ideal for creating custom colours and detailed finishes.
Can I have two-tone or multi-colour alloy wheels?
Yes. Many customisation services offer two tone designs, such as black spokes with a polished rim or contrasting colours in different areas.
Can I customise diamond cut alloy wheels?
Yes. You can either refinish them in a new colour or re-machine the face. Many drivers choose to remove the diamond cut finish for a more durable powder-coated look.
Can I match my wheels to my car colour?
Yes. Wet painting allows for precise colour matching, making it possible to match or complement your vehicle’s paintwork.
Can I revert my wheels back to the original finish?
Yes. Most alloy wheels can be refinished multiple times, if your wheel have been previously customised you can choose to return them to a standard OEM finish.
Drivers need to be aware there is a limit to how many times you can machine or "diamond cut" a wheel face. Diamond cut alloy wheels can only be refinished 2 or 3 times at most before they can only be fully painted or powder coated.
